Health Promotion Internship
The North Carolina Medical Society Employee Benefit Plan (NCMS Plan) is looking for a bright, motivated, conscientious team player who is eager to learn. If this sounds like you and you are pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in health promotion, worksite wellness, public health, or a related discipline -- you are in for a great learning experience.
The NCMS Plan is an exclusive benefits program available to North Carolina Medical Society members. The Plan currently covers more than 900 practices in NC and more than 12,000 physicians and practice employees. The NCMS Plan offers, as a value-add, Practice Wellness, a one-on-one consultation and wellness strategy development for medical practices.
This 10-12 week internship provides exposure to and experience in a wide range of areas, including:
- Assessment of health education needs; review of claims data and other data resources to target most cost-productive areas
- Identification of resources for health education programs
- Facilitation and implementation of health education/promotion activities for participating practices across NC
- A review of results and documentation of the impact of programs
- Incentive strategy development
Good communication skills and a high level of professionalism are essential as client interaction is a vital aspect of this program. Interns are expected to be highly motivated, organized, self-directed, and open to feedback to ensure a beneficial internship experience between both parties.
This internship is located at our Raleigh, NC office. The number of supervised hours depends upon requirements set forth by your curriculum director and institution. We suggest 35-40 hours per week; however this is not a requirement.
