The 2014 Employer Health Benefits Survey conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation provides a detailed look at trends in employer-sponsored health coverage. The 2014 survey included almost 3,000 interviews with public and private employers. Key findings from the survey, conducted from January through May 2014, were released in September.

NCMS Plan Update: Employer-provided medical care available to 86 percent of full-time employees

According to a recent report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employer-provided medical care was available to 86 percent of full-time private industry workers in the United States in March 2014. By contrast, only 23 percent of part-time workers had medical care benefits available. A worker with access to a medical plan is defined as having an employer-provided plan available for use, regardless of the employee’s decision to enroll or participate in the plan.

Survey Indicates Knowledge of ACA Still Lacking

According to a poll conducted in January by the Kaiser Family Foundation, a majority of the public believes that only “some” provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) have been implemented. The public feels this way in spite of the significant implementation milestones that occurred January 1st, including the requirement for individuals to have insurance, the opening of Exchanges, and the provision of tax credits and cost sharing subsidies to eligible individuals. Very few provisions, in fact, remain to be implemented.
